The Age of Ashes LARP is focused on character-driven roleplay, and this means that we place an emphasis on exploring who your character is, what they believe, and what drives them, from the very beginning of character creation to the end of their personal tale within the ongoing story.

It can be summarized as a roleplaying experience where players act as and represent their characters as they pursue goals and objectives in an often fictional setting. Many larps include costuming and props as part of the experience. It is an interactive form of entertainment where everyone is a participant and the only audience is each other. LARP is many different things to those who participate in it. For some, it is a type of game in which they set for themselves win and loss conditions.

For others, it is an opportunity to experience a type of personal character study, in which they can try to get into the headspace of a character or personality type unlike themselves. Others enjoy the opportunity to showcase detailed costumes and weapons, and others love the opportunity to be social and share an adventure with other people.

We have started our full weekend events! Culpeper, VA Saturday February Live Action Role Playing Events full of battle, adventure, feasting and fun. W e take what is best about European LARP, realistic and superbly crafted weapons, a high level of costuming, role play, and story, and combine it with the best about American LARP, the full contact competitive sport like fighting of high speed US based LARPs, with an eye towards the hardcore attention to detail of historical re-enacting groups.

That does not mean that players do not have conflict amongst themselves. Far from it. Our stories are ever evolving and players continuously steer our narrative with their actions, or inactions.

We are always looking for more people to join our adventures, whether you are in the Player Camp, or the Monster Camp. It is never too late to join! We pride ourselves in creating fun, inclusive, immersive and entertaining events. They help direct our designs and social media to reflect our values of "all players are welcome". We have created a committee that will help to ensure accountability for all Chapters.

Whether that is investigating major rules violations, by-law infractions to the more serious topics of abuse within the Chapter, we hope that this extra level of oversight will help players understand that Chapters have accountability to the National organization and vice, versa.
